Lodalis (Colesevelam) Information

How does Lodalis work?

Lodalis works by preventing and binding bile acids (substances similar to cholesterol) from being reabsorbed in your body via the intestines. This expels the acids and uses cholesterol from your body to make more, removing them from your bloodstream.

It can take a few weeks for this process to have an impact on your blood cholesterol levels.

How do you use Lodalis?

Lodalis tablets are taken by mouth around 6 times a day. Your doctor may recommend taking all the doses together or half during each main meal. Your doctor may adjust your dose depending on your treatment progress, medical condition and height and weight. Do not change how you take this mediation unless instructed by your doctor.

You should keep taking Lodalis even when you feel better. Your symptoms can return if you stop treatment early. If you miss a dose, you can take it when you remember. You can skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next one. Store at room temperature away from children and animals when not in use.

This may be taken alongside diabetes medications for individuals with type 2 diabetes or high blood sugar.
