Estradiol is an estrogen hormone found in a clear, colorless gel called Estrogel. Many processes in the body are regulated by estrogen, a female sex hormone produced by the ovaries. Estrogel is used to reduce the symptoms of menopause including hot flashes and irritation, dryness, and burning of the vaginal area. In addition to Estrogel, other medications can also be taken with it. In children, EstroGel is unknown whether it is safe or effective. It belongs to the estrogen derivatives class of drugs.

How To Use Estrogel?

Be sure to follow all instructions on the prescription label for Estrogel, as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine should not be used in excessive or insufficient amounts or for an extended period of time.

There is a possibility that estrogen may increase your risk of developing uterine cancer. Progestins can help reduce this risk while you are using estradiol, so ask your doctor about taking one while you are on it. If you notice any unusual bleeding in your vaginal area, please report it immediately. Any questions you may have can be answered by your doctor or pharmacist.

Make sure your skin is clean, dry, and unbroken before applying Estrogel. The medicine should not be applied to red or irritated skin. Breasts should not be applied to this medicine.

If you have applied Estrogel to your hands, wash them with soap and water. This medicine should not be applied to other people's skin. Water and soap should be applied to the affected area if this occurs.
