What is Aldara (Imiquimod) Cream used for?

Aldra is used to treat actinic keratosis, superficial basal cell carcinomas, and genital warts. It is possible to decrease complications and prevent skin cancer from these conditions by treating them. Immune response modifiers, like imiquimod, belong to the same class of drugs. In order to fight these abnormal skin conditions, it is believed to help activate your immune system. This Is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

How To Use Aldara (Imiquimod) Cream?

Follow the directions on your prescription label when taking Aldara.

Do not exceed recommended dosages or use it for longer than recommended by your doctor.

You may experience severe skin reactions if you use too much or for too long of this medicine.

Make sure you wash your hands and the area where Aldara will be applied before applying it.

Be sure to apply the medicine after the skin has dried for at least 10 minutes.

Hands should also be washed after you have applied the medicine. The use of Aldara should not be attempted on affected areas of broken, wounded, or burned skin.

Aldara should not be used on these areas until the wounds or burns have healed.

Follow your doctor's instructions when using Aldara. You usually need to cover the treated area with a thin layer

wear protective clothing and avoid sun exposure during treatment

Most people take this medication 2 to 5 times a week for up to 16 weeks. Use it according to your doctor's instructions.

Advise your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
