What is Allegra (Fexofenadine HCL) used for?
Histamine, a natural chemical in the body, can produce symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, itchiness and watery eyes. Fexofenadine is an antihistamine that lowers histamine and reduces these symptoms. It can also be used for outdoor allergies including seasonal allergies and hay fever. Adults and children can also take it to treat chronic idiopathic urticaria, which causes itching and hives on the skin. This medication guide does not include all possible uses for Allegra.

How To Use Allegra?
This medication can be taken with or without food in tablet/capsule or liquid form. An empty stomach is recommended if you plan to use the rapidly dissolving tablet. Do not remove the rapidly dissolving tablet from the blister pack until right before use; it must dissolve on the tongue and then be swallowed, with or without water.
This medication should be taken with water only if you need a liquid to take it (like capsules/tablets). Do not take these medications with fruit juices (such as apple, grapefruit, and orange) as they may decrease their absorption.
This medication must not be taken more than once a day, or if it is taken more frequently than suggested. It should be taken according to your age, medical condition, and response to treatment.
Within two hours of taking this medication, you should avoid taking antacids containing aluminum and magnesium, as they can interfere with the absorption of fexofenadine and can cause adverse effects.
If your condition doesn't improve or worsens, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
