Benicar (Olmesartan)

Benicar is an angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by improving blood flow by relaxing your blood vessels. That may be used alone or with blood pressure medicine to achieve the desired effects.

Benicar is taken orally, usually once a day, with or without food. It works best when taken around the same time every day. Do not stop treatment once you feel better. You may not feel different after taking your dose and using it properly.

Your dose is based on your condition and results of previous treatment. If you miss a dose you can take it when you remember. You can skip the missed dose if it’s nearly time to take it again.

Your doctor may monitor your blood pressure during treatment. If your condition does not approve, or if it grows worse, you may need to discontinue treatment.

You may experience dizziness after taking your dose. Avoid driving, operating machinery or perform tasks that require alertness. Alcohol and marijuana may make this worse.

The generic drug is called Olmesartan. It is equally effective as the brand product.

Depression is not a listed side effect of Benicar. If you are at risk of depression, or experience depression-like symptoms during treatment, talk to our doctor as soon as possible.

Puffiness and water retention are possible side effects. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if you find them unmanageable.

Bencar has a similar mechanism of action to ACE inhibitors. Talk to your doctor if you have problems with ACE inhibitors.

Benicar works within 1-2 hours after taking your dose. Its effects last all day until it’s time for your next dose.

Based on its half life it takes 275 (about 11 days) to be completely eliminated from your system.
