What is Elidel Cream (pimecrolimus cream) prescribed for?

Elidel is a topical calcineurin inhibitor used to treat mild to moderate symptoms of eczema (atopic dermatitis) on the skin. Elidel is an immunosuppressant that works by lowering your immune system to help control your skin's atopic dermatitis (eczema). There is no need to use Elidel cream for long periods of time, and if necessary, breaks can be taken between treatments. People with weakened immune systems should not use Elidel. It may make skin infections or viral infections more severe.
