What is Multaq (Dronedarone) used for?

Multaq is used to treat Atrial Fibrillation, a heart rhythm problem. Multaq is used by people who have previously suffered from irregular heartbeat (paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation) and now have a normal heart rate. Atrial fibrillation is reduced when you take it because it helps you keep a normal heart rhythm. Multaq is an antiarrhythmic agent medication that should not be used if you have permanent atrial fibrillation because of the increased risk of very serious side effects. As part of the Antidysrhythmics, III class of drugs, Multaq may be used alone or together with other medications. There is no information available on Multaq's safety and efficacy in children.
