What is Qvar?
Qvar is an inhalation aerosol prescribed to manage the coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath associated with asthma symptoms. It is a corticosteroid medication that works in the lungs to prevent bronchospasms (asthma attack). It does not work quickly enough to treat an asthma attack in progress. It needs to be used properly to help manage symptoms. Carry a fast acting inhaler to treat sudden symptoms.

How does Qvar work?
Qvar works by reducing the swelling and irritation in the airway. This makes breathing easier by increasing the amount of space in the airways.
How do you use Qvar?
If you are using the inhaler for the first time, or if it has been 10 days since your last dose, you need to prime the inhaler. Follow the instructions provided with the product to prime it properly. Avoid shaking it and avoid spraying your eyes during regular use or when priming.
The typical dose is 2 inhalations by mouth a day. Your personal dose of Qvar is based on factors such as your condition, age and previous results of treatment. If you need to take 2 inhalations at a time, Wait at least a minute between doses. The same instructions apply if you need to take a different product as well to manage symptoms.
Rinse your mouth with water to remove any residue from the mediation. When left in your mouth it can increase the risk of yeast infection or irritation. Do not swallow the rinse water. Try to take your doses around the same time per day to get a consistent dose.
What are the precautions and warnings of Qvar?
