Zocor (Simvastatin)

This medication is usually taken once a day in the evening, as directed by your doctor. The tablet form may be taken with or without food.

Taking this medication on an empty stomach is recommended if you are taking it in a liquid form.

There is no set dosage for this medication, but it depends on your medical condition, reaction to treatment, age, and other medications you are taking. Tell your pharmacist and doctor about all the products you are taking (including prescription medications, non-prescription medications, and herbal remedies).

The medication may cause serious side effects if you increase the dose or take it more often than directed. You will not see any improvement in your condition if you take more medication than prescribed.

Unless prescribed otherwise by your doctor, do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking Zocor. Taking this medication with grapefruit may increase its concentration in your bloodstream which results in a higher risk of side effects. Call your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Taking it regularly at the same time each day will ensure you get the most benefit from it. The medication should be taken even if you feel well. High cholesterol and triglycerides are not typically associated with sickness.

Diet and exercise should be followed as directed by your doctor. This drug may take up to 4 weeks to fully benefit you.

• Sleep Problems (Insomnia)
• Confusion
• Gas
• Constipation
• Dark Colored Urine
• Indigestion
• Atrial Fibrillation
• Painful Urination
• Weakness
• Fever
• Headache
• Muscle Pain
• Bloating
• Joint Pain
• Stomach Pain
• Weight Gain
• Diarrhea
