What is Advair Diskus used for?

Advair Diskus Inhaler used in long term treatment of asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with chronic bronchitis and emphysema). It also prevents symptoms of asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath). This medication contains two drugs: fluticasone and salmeterol, both of which act to reduce irritation and swelling in the airways. Fluticasone belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids. It eases breathing by relaxing the muscles around the airways and enabling them to open up. Salmeterol is a long-acting beta agonist. If your symptoms cannot be effectively controlled with a single asthma drug (such as inhaled corticosteroids), then you should consider using this product. The medication should be used regularly in order to be effective. It should not be used to treat sudden asthma attacks or to ease immediate symptoms. If you suffer from an asthma attack, or sudden troubled breathing you should take your quick acting inhaler (such as albuterol or salbutamol in certain countries) right away.
